About Timberman

A lumberjack, a very tall tree and one simple rule make up Timberman, a quick-reflex favorite since 2014. Every click or tap chops a piece off the trunk, but branches stick out from both sides, so you have to keep switching sides to avoid getting hit as the tree drops down.

A timer bar drains constantly and refills only while you keep chopping, which makes hesitating as risky as picking the wrong side. The longer you last, the faster you need to go. Dozens of unlockable lumberjacks, several environments and leaderboards give you plenty of reasons to keep chasing a better score.

How to play Timberman

  • Click or tap left of the tree - chop from the left
  • Click or tap right of the tree - chop from the right

Playing Timberman on a computer

Click on the left side of the tree to chop from the left, or on the right side to chop from the right. Start with Play now and the game's PLAY button, then watch the branches sliding down the trunk and switch sides before one reaches the lumberjack. The timer bar only refills while you keep chopping, so a steady rhythm matters more than bursts.

Playing Timberman on a phone or tablet

Timberman is a perfect phone game. Tap the left half of the screen to chop from the left and the right half to chop from the right, swapping sides whenever a branch is about to land on you. Portrait view tends to suit the tall tree. Use both thumbs, one per side, to keep the chopping rhythm fast.

Tips and tricks

  • Read the next branch coming down, not just the one above you, to plan your side early.
  • Keep a steady rhythm, since frantic clicking leads to mistakes.
  • Never stop for long, because the timer only refills while you chop.
