About Minesweeper Mania
Minesweeper Mania brings back the grid-clearing logic puzzle that has been a staple on computers for decades. Your goal is to open every safe square on the board without uncovering a mine.
Numbers are your guide: an opened square reveals how many of its eight neighbors hide a mine, and those clues let you work out where the danger sits. Flags help you mark squares you are sure about, and speed is part of the challenge. This version also adds harder difficulty settings, custom boards, alternate themes and hints for moments when you get stuck.
How to play Minesweeper Mania
- Click a square - reveal it
- Flag - mark a square you think hides a mine
- Hint - get help when you are stuck
Playing Minesweeper Mania on a computer
Minesweeper Mania is a mouse game. Begin with Play now, then click PLAY on the distributor's start screen, sometimes after a quick ad. Click a square to open it and use the flag control to mark squares you are sure hide mines. A number counts the mines touching that square, so work outward from the numbers instead of guessing, and save the Hint option for real dead ends.
Playing Minesweeper Mania on a phone or tablet
Minesweeper Mania is not marked as touch-ready, and its controls are described for a mouse. The grid squares are small, and one mis-tap that opens a mine instead of flagging it costs you the whole board. A computer or Chromebook gives you the precision this needs. For phones, try the games labeled "Desktop and mobile".
On a phone right now? Try Amaze, Block Blast and Draw Joust - they are built for touch screens.
Tips and tricks
- Start next to low numbers, where safe moves are easiest to prove.
- Flag a mine as soon as you are certain, so the clues around it are easier to read.
- Save hints for spots where every remaining move is a guess.
