About Cell Machine
Think of Cell Machine as a programming puzzle without any code. Each level gives you a grid, a few enemy cells and a handful of cells you can rearrange inside a marked build area. Once you press play, every cell follows its own simple rule, and the goal is for the whole contraption to destroy every enemy.
Movers push forward, generators copy whatever sits behind them, rotators turn their neighbors, and other blocks slide or refuse to budge. Watching a chain reaction play out exactly as planned is deeply satisfying. Sam Hogan's design later inspired a whole wave of fan-made versions and mods.
How to play Cell Machine
- Mouse - drag cells within the build area
- Play button - start the simulation
Playing Cell Machine on a computer
Cell Machine is a programming puzzle without code, played with the mouse. Click Play now and give the Unity build a moment to load. Drag your cells into position inside the marked build area, then press the Play button to run the simulation and see whether every enemy is destroyed. Movers push forward, so trace each piece's path in your head first. If it fails, rearrange and run again.
Playing Cell Machine on a phone or tablet
Cell Machine is built around mouse dragging inside a small grid, and touch input has not been confirmed for this Unity build. Placing cells on exact squares takes precision a fingertip struggles with on a phone. Build your machines on a laptop, desktop or Chromebook instead. Games marked "Desktop and mobile" are the ones ready for touch.
On a phone right now? Try Amaze, Block Blast and Draw Joust - they are built for touch screens.
Tips and tricks
- Trace each cell's path in your head before pressing play.
- Enemy cells are destroyed along with whatever hits them, so plan for losing pieces.
- If a solution almost works, try moving just one cell to a different spot.
