About Rio Rex
Rio Rex lets you play the monster instead of fighting it. A huge Tyrannosaurus is loose in Rio de Janeiro, and your job is to cause as much chaos as possible, flattening buildings, breathing fire and snapping up the tiny people who cannot get away in time.
You steer the dinosaur with the keyboard and aim its bites and flames with the mouse, so destruction comes quickly once you get the hang of it. The game follows earlier rampages through New York and Paris and keeps the same over-the-top tone. It is silly, loud and satisfying, which makes it work well as a stress reliever.
How to play Rio Rex
- Arrow keys - move the T-Rex
- Mouse - aim fire breath and bites
Playing Rio Rex on a computer
In Rio Rex you are the monster, a T-Rex loose in Rio de Janeiro. Press Play now; a distributor screen with a PLAY button comes next, and occasionally a quick ad. Steer the dinosaur with the arrow keys and use the mouse to aim its fire breath and bites at buildings and fleeing people. Keep one hand on the arrows and the other on the mouse, and keep moving while you aim.
Playing Rio Rex on a phone or tablet
Rio Rex splits control between the arrow keys and the mouse: one hand moves the dinosaur while the other aims bites and flames. A phone cannot do both at once in this build, and it is not marked mobile-ready. Play it on a computer, or a Chromebook with a mouse. For a phone, pick a title tagged "Desktop and mobile" instead.
On a phone right now? Try They Are Coming, Coreball and Flappy Dunk - they are built for touch screens.
Tips and tricks
- Keep moving so you reach new targets before they scatter.
- Aim at clusters of targets to cause more destruction at once.
