Crisp pixel art and a chiptune soundtrack give Bloo Kid 2 the feel of a lost classic from the console era. The story picks up after the first game: Bloo Kid and Pink Girl now have a baby, Pink Kid, and naturally a new adventure is not far away.

You run, double jump and swim through five large worlds, each with twelve levels, defeating enemies by landing on their heads. Tough boss fights test everything you have learned, and plenty of hidden areas reward players who explore instead of rushing to the exit. Arrow keys and on-screen buttons are both supported.

How to play Bloo Kid 2

• Left and Right arrows - move
• Up arrow - jump, double jump in midair, swim in water
• Down arrow - drop through platforms
• Touch - on-screen buttons on mobile

After Play now, the distributor's PLAY screen appears, sometimes after a short ad. Walk with the left and right arrows and jump with up; press up again in midair for a double jump, and keep tapping it to swim underwater. Down drops you through a platform. Defeat enemies by landing on them, and treat the double jump as your safety net for ledges you misjudge.

Playing Bloo Kid 2 on a phone or tablet

Bloo Kid 2 supports touch with on-screen buttons that mirror the arrow keys: move left or right, jump and double jump, or drop down through platforms. Hold the phone in landscape so the buttons sit under your thumbs and each level has room to breathe. In water, repeated taps on jump let you swim upward.

Tips and tricks

• Use the double jump to reach ledges that look just out of range.
• Bounce on enemies to clear them out of your way.
• Check the edges of each level for hidden areas and secrets.
